One Night in Brussels, Unintentionally

Tomorrowland has come to an end and as we make our way out of the festival we now understand how truly large the grounds were.  About an hour and a half later we finally find our bus and make our way back to Brussels from Boom.  Holy… Traffic.  It was remarkable.  May be worse than LA as far as I am concerned, or maybe it was my anxiety which was off the charts thinking we may miss our flight?!  Who knows, but it was bad.  We get to the airport and we have a matter of minutes to check in to get our boarding passes, through security and to our terminal.  As time crawls by we finally look at each other and say, “there is no way we are going to make this flight.”  We were exactly right – we missed it.  As we figure out how to handle this we notice there is a Sheraton attached to the airport.  So we walk over, get a room to shower, clean up and get some rest.  There are only two flights to the US from Brussels a day on the airline we were on so we were stuck for at least one day.  After we shower and get cleaned up – we head to town!

One of the main things that has been a positive experience during our stay in Europe is how easy the transportation is.  We get out in the main city square and find a cute wine bar to grab some snacks and start doing the site seeing!

Sadly I don’t have a large amount of photos, after all we only had about seven hours to explore.  In those seven hours we absolutely got our fair share of food to try.  Belgian Waffle with Belgian chocolate, Belgian fries, mussels, cheese, and likely so much more that I cannot remember.  I definitely think my next trip to Europe I would make it a point to go back so we could see more of the city.  Seven hours is definitely not enough time, but everything happens for a reason.  So missing our flight didn’t end up being so bad after all.
